⏰ Watering reminders are paused until 1 September

We hit a monthly limit on the service that stores your plants, and it resets on the 1st. Until then your Telegram reminders won't arrive — but nothing is lost: every plant, watering and photo is safe, and the app will catch up on its own. We've found what caused it (a background check running far more often than it needed to), and it's already fixed, so this shouldn't happen again.

What Plant Bud is

Plant Bud is a personal plant care tracker and AI co-pilot, operated by Igor (Helsinki, Finland) as a solo side project. Anyone can sign up with a Google account. It is free, and there is no company behind it.

Your plant data

Plants, care events, waterings, issues, photos, and supplies you enter are yours. They are:

  • Stored on a server in the EU.
  • Never shared with third parties or aggregated across users.
  • Exportable on request — ask Igor directly.
  • Hard-deletable on request — also ask Igor directly.

Usage analytics (opt-in)

During sign-up you were offered the option to share anonymous usage data with Igor to help improve Plant Bud. This is strictly opt-in and off unless you turned it on. When it is on, the following is collected:

  • Feature views (which screens you open) and button clicks.
  • Which AI (MCP) tool was called and whether it succeeded or failed.
  • Funnel steps — where you progress or drop off in a flow.
  • Error categories (a short code, never the underlying content).
  • Basic session timing.

The following is never collected, even by accident — the analytics pipeline drops anything outside a fixed allowlist of codes:

  • Plant data, photos, prompts, or chat content.
  • The arguments you pass to an AI tool or the payloads it returns.

Events are tagged with a one-way hashed identifier (HMAC-SHA256 of your user id with a server-side secret), not your email — so the analytics store cannot be mapped back to you without both the auth database and that secret.

You can turn analytics on or off at any time from your account page. Turning it off does more than pause collection — it permanently erases all of your past usage events from the analytics backend. To export your data, ask Igor directly (see GDPR below).

No third-party scripts

Plant Bud loads no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. There are no Google Fonts CDN calls, no embedded social media widgets, and no pixels.

Authentication

Sign-in uses your Google account, or a magic link sent to your email. No passwords are stored. Session cookies are HttpOnly and signed with a server-side secret. They expire after 7 days of inactivity.
